Can anyone recommend a program or utility that can identify what a computer is doing, or what program is causing disk activity?

I have a laptop that is running no applicaitons (from what the task manager indicates) yet the hard disk is continouslly active and churning away.

NAV is installed and I did a full system scan. No viruses detected, so I have no idea what program would need to be accessing the HD non-stop.

WinXP Pro operating system.

Task manager.

Ctrl-ALt-Del > Task Manager
or
right-click on your taskbar and select Task Manager from the menu.

Another good program to use is this: TaskList

contol/alt/delete will bring up Task Manager.

goto "processes" tab and it will tell you what is running and how much cpu the process is using (see below)
