Quick Question
« on: August 13, 2006, 09:10:48 PM »
I like flying the CV's but I dont really know how to use them. I know about how I drop troops on a enemy town to capture it, but how do I resupply a base. All I know is that if a base says it doesnt have troops or supplies, I pick the closest field that does and launch from it.
If I want to give the field troops do i just drop them like I would if capturing a town?

No.
If you want to resupply a field, you have to land/drop "Airfield Supplies", regardless if Airfield, Vehicle Field or Port.
You can either drop them like troops. Or you land, open door, and drop them on runway.
Each supply run cuts downtime by 15mins, so dont expect barracks or radar to pop up just because you did one singe resupply run. It takes several runs or even better the combined effort of several people to bring a field fully back up.

"Vehicle Supplies" are not for Vehicle Fields as you might think, but to resupply individual ground vehicles in the field.

You can re-supply a base in 3 different ways.

from a cv you need to select an LVT-2 with field supplies.
from an A/F or V base you can take an M3 with field supplies

or fly  a c47 in with field supplies.

To my knowledge supplies have to be dropped on concrete at the base you wish to re supply.  This will half the amount of time needed to fix a base object.

This is best done by a group say 5 guys do it all at once pretty much everything will come back up very quickly.....

Dropping troops on an airfield will not do anything the barracks located on each base have to be enabled for supplies/troops to be used at that field.  You can check this by right clicking on your clipboard map then clicking field status....

Supplies can be dropped anywhere on/at a base, doesn´t need to be on concrete, and time is not plain halfed but cut by 15mins.

To be even more precise:

The supplies have to be dropped within a 1 mile range of the object to be resupplied. (For ground objects - range is different for vehicle supplies!). So anywhere on the base is always within that range.
21 is only half the truth.

You'd think this would work, and it should, but doesn't.

It would make things a lot better in game if this were the case, or at least if the damn troops could get out of those little huts and hit the trenches when an air raid comes in.

Infantry are WAY too stupid in this.
