recorded film problems
« on: August 16, 2006, 08:11:55 AM »
When I record a flight I used to be able to watch them.  Now for some reason I can't, I keep getting this ERROR.

   INSTALLATION ERROR
Aces High is not being run out of it's
orgional installation folder.
This is normally caused by an incorrect drag
from the start menu.

I havent dragged anything. To view my flims I go to
My Computer> C: drive> HTC> Aces High> Films, then click on the film I want to watch.
But now for some reason I keep getting this error?

  Any Ideas.
Thanks  Alan

Go to C:\HTC\Aces High II\ and make sure the ahfilm.exe is still there.

If it is, try launching the viewer directly by double clicking the ahfilm.exe file. (you can open file and watch film from there).

If its there and working, right click any of your films, select "Open with.." Choose  the film viewer (you might have to BROWSE and select the ahfilm.exe). Make sure the box "Always open with this program" is checked.

If the ahfilm.exe is *not* there, do a search on your comp... you mustve moved it to another folder somehow. Find it and bring it back home :D.

I hope that helps.

PS: I just remembered i had the same problem once. After reinstalling AH into a new folder. The file association (ahf--->film viewer) was still with the old game installment and not working (for obvious reasons). The above procedure of "open with" solved it.

Sir
thank you for the reply.
I completed a search and all I found was this file.
AHFILM.EXE-OB1DDAOC.pf
I moved it to my aces high folder and it still wont let me view my flights. Could you send me a patch if there is one.

 Thanks  Alan

Hmm...

If you try launching the film viewer through START MENU, does that work?

Did you rename that file to ahfilm.exe before trying to start it?

I do not think theres a patch for film viewer - its included in the game installment. Im not sure if me sending you the ahfilm.exe i have would work either, and to be honest, im not too hot trying that.

Simple solution, but needs a little time:

Back up all your custom settings for AH(That would include the Settings, Films, ahiiterr, skins folder, and - if you use custom ones, also the sounds and sights folders) by copying those folders to another place on your HDD. Then uninstall the game and delete the directory. Redownload the full versions from flyaceshigh.com and reinstall. Just copy all your backed up folders back into the new game installment and you should be good to go.
