This ever happen to you?

I don't get this...
I've got a nice graphics card... an x800 pci express card with 256mb of ram...

It runs other games amazingly... simply with out flaws... and for the most part, it runs AH2 really well also.

But every once in a while I get this bizzar checkerboard artifact in AH2 that drives me nuts...

Almost invariably i'll be in flight... and then BOOM!

I end up having to reboot the computer... and the only "fix" i can seem to figure out for myself is to uninstall my video drivers and then reinstall them... but this is only temporary as this will rear its ugly head again in a few weeks...

Any thoughts?

Is that an "PRT SC" screen shot?  or an ALT-S screen capture?  If alt-s I would think it may be a software issue, but I'm no positive.

I don't know about that particular graphics card and how well it typically runs with AH (I'm personally an NVIDIA guy) but you might try updating drivers (download them from the manufacturer's website, don't use the ones that came on the disk with the card.. as those are typically outdated).  If that doesn't work, or if there are no newer drivers available, you might actually try OLDER drivers.. sometimes they release new features that aren't compatible with AH2.

You might also try enabling or disabling some of the different video options from the offline menu.

Good luck.

*EDIT* one other thing you might consider is upgrading your power supply.  I've heard these newer cards suck a lot of power, and if you PS isn't good enough, goofy things can happen.  Goodluck.

Well... just an update...

It appears that the damage to my card had allready been done...  It continued to act all funky for a few days and then... *hears Taps in the distance* it died.

Just bought a new card...

and I kept my pci slot fan ;)
