S3 has about 32 or 64 MB integrated memory, is 2D only, NOT 3D compatible. I used to have one back when AH first came out. Couldn't run AH during beta, had to get a new PC, and that didn't happen til the beta was finished.

Depending on the parts in the computer you might be able to upgrade to a 1.5GHz or so, and you might be able to insert an early AGP card in there (2x or 4x, definitely not 8x if it's that old).

But frankly speaking, you need a newer PC, yes.

its an old Compaq ... most likely with a " Slot p3" cpu in it.. the biggest cpu made was 800 mhz (If my memory is correct ) and being a compaq of that vintage its very lucky to not be still ussing a 500mhz K-6 (486) cpu (compaq was still ussing those in there pcs up til 2002 )   there is no upgrade for those old compaqs.

I see them all the time and there pritty much throw away to me... I 've been using the better 800 mhz and up for all my pc rebuilds that I donate to needy families around here (Livin in Seattle/microsoft land has its adv )  You should see all the near or  free pc stuff on our craigslist.org ...

Make sure that Laptop is going to run AH first. Not all of them do and only very high end ones do it well. You might be dissapointed otherwise.....

I can't get it to run either on my alternate computer.....white screen in the upper left corner of the normal desktop and then and error message saying windows has encountered a problem.

Am using a 2.66 P4 , 760 M of Ram
XP Home SP2
SiS 650 video

Is this video setup compatible or do I have to buy a new pci card?

You cant use keyboard only at all. You at *least* need a mouse (NOT touchpad!), but youll still have trouble on Laptop without numpad.

Yes, Joystick a neccessity there.

For any Intel video chip, manually set the "Maximum Texture Size", in the game's "Video Settings" to 256, or less and then try it.  Some Intel video chips will not work at all, but some do.

You might also want to check for later driver versions for your chip from Intel.  Just use the Intel chip number and do a search on Intel's WEB site (http://www.intel.com) to find the driver.

you also must have DX 9 on your system for it to work too.
