« on: August 17, 2006, 10:04:18 AM »
Ok i'm a computer tard and you guys will have to explain things real simple like.  Been playing fine for months with no problems and last night when I logged on and went to the MA all bases were the same color (not green) and could not do anything or go anywhere but the tower.  Went to the TA and all  bases were green but could only sit in the tower.  Pulled up roster and range and showed nobody on in TA or MA.  Went offline and everything worked.  Went to 8 player and everything worked fine.  We did have a storm with power outage while AH was on and I was afk.  Need some help please!!! Starting to get the shakes and vision is getting blury....I NEED A AH FIX!!!!!

OK. First thing id try is a reboot of your computer. See if that helps.

If it doesnt, try resetting your internet connection. (Turn off Computer. Switch off power on your rooter, turn it both back on (router first).

Check if you can get a ping on both MA and TA. Go to START > RUN > type in cmd, ENTER. This opens command prompt window. Now just type ping 206.16.60.39 for MA and ping 206.16.60.38 for TA. See if you get a response or error message.

Let me know if that helped.... if not Ill try and think of something new :).

Ok....tried rebooting router and computer and still got the same thing.
Tried the ping thing and it said that it sent 4 packets and returned 3 with 25% loss with an average time of 45 mls.   It this an isp problem or computer problem?  Use the same isp at work with no problems.:cry

Every base on the map is the same color and it show that there are couple of hundred people playing but then when in the tower and click roster there is nobody listed.

Apparently, after loading the game cant connect to the servers to get info on whos online and where and what the current terrain status is.

The only other thing i could think of would be a complete reinstall of the game.

Backup your Settings, Skins, ahiiterr, films and - if you use custom ones - also the sounds and sights folders.

Then uninstall the game (dont forget to delete the directory it was in after that) and reinstall it new.

See if it runs with the virgin settings. If it does, copy your backup folders back in.

If it *still* doesnt run, im out of my depth. Youll have to wait for the more knowledgeable to help you then.

I tried to restore to an earlier date but didn't help.  Think I will start over as you suggested.  I know how to uninstall but how do I delete the directory?

START > PROGRAMS > Windows Explorer (*not* Internet explorer). Find the folder your game is installed in. Default would be C:\HTC\Aces High II\ and make copies of the folders i told you (settings being the most important) somewhere else on your HDD (a TEMP folder for example).

Then uninstall the game and delete the HTC folder (and all subdirectories left) in Windows Explorer.

Now reinstall the game.

See if it works.

Then copy the folders you backed up back into your *new* game installment (instead of the default ones the game created anew - you can overwrite those).

If you think you cant do this (if youre unsure on what to delete and what not) better ask for someone living close to you to call you on phone and talk you through it. Or wait for Skuzzy if hes got a less complicated (and better) idea.
