I was flying one night this week and a squadie said that a double shooting with one person dead had just occured right out front of his residence and the assailent was loose in the neighborhood.  Evidently the first one murder in the town in years.  He said he was setting there clutching a paring knife. :rofl

I just looked next to my monitor at my Browning BDM.

People, if you don't own a gun for fun, you should at least own one for self defense.  The police are not there to prevent crimes, they are there to investigate them.

I heard a report that the Scots were outlawing Swords!  It seems that people will commit murder no matter what weapon they have to use.  Maybe the clueless will come to understand that you cannot make the world safe with laws, you can just ensure that the free stay that way.

The names of the innocent and the guilty have not been changed.
As for the innocent, everyone needs to know they are innocent –
As for the guilty… they can suck it.

I just joined last month. My gf, who was totally afraid of guns, asked me to buy her a revolver.
Unfortunatly, it took her getting mugged & and me having guns to prove that self defense near a gang infested apt building will have a positive effect. Even though everyone here has been afraid, I won't be anymore, and it's something my new family has come to appreciate.
It's about time gangs should start fearing us.

The city in where I live for example, hasn't had a single murder for around 3 months, we thought we had one this week but it turned out the guy was drunk and fell off the wharf. I can only think of one significant firearm crime in the last 6 months (something that looked like a pistol used to hold up a money lending place).

FUBAR'd.

oh my God!!!  the crime! the murder!!! the guns!!!!  the fast food!!!  What should I do???????

Oh my dear Lord, why is your M1A dirty?    Don't you know the rule, never let the sun set on a dirty weapon?  :)

I know you are just kidding, maybe you should have said "I am going to watch TV and polish up the M1A.  :)

Mine is clean and ready to head to the range.

vulcan...  the best way to answer you is that you are not the U.S.  You don't have the economy or the population loading or the "diversity"

that is not it entirely tho.   You claim there is no murder.  I believe you... it is a pretty rare thing in most small U.S. cities.   I would ask you... Do you think that firearms are the only way to murder and that only illegal firearms are capable of killing?   Do you honestly think that it is your firearms laws that giving you a zero murder rate?

the several armed robberies in my small town were committed by people from large cities who came here for the one purpose of the robbery... one body that was dumped here came from a city with a population of over 150k.

Both the swiss and the japs have very low murder rates...one is the best armed in the world and one is the least.   I don't want to live either place... I would not fit in.   I would not fit in in your country either.

In our country....  thousands of murders are committed every day without firearms.   We also have a violent underclass that is trying to control the drug trade.  they are gonna be violent no matter what the laws.

This brings up a questions, I have always wondered how a gun crazed NRA supporter fits in in Kalifornia?  :D

I think at minimum you better stay away from San Francisco, unless you puts some flowers in your hair.  :rofl

Area-wise, most of California isn't too bad.  San Francisco or Berkeley aren't really representative of the whole state.

This doesn't mean there aren't dumb state laws, of course.  Don't get me started on the SKS issue....

dago... have you ever been to kalifornia?   It is a very large state.

My area was very lightly populated and I could, until very recently shoot just about anywhere.

The politics of my state are getting worse and the prices to live are very high....  I can still move to areas in kalifornia where I can shoot off the back porch and get a concealled carry permit without much problem but...

I am going to sell my home and move to another state when I shortly retire in any case.

I'm sorry...I missed something.

Just exactly where is the little Paradise-on-Earth that we should all aspire to emulate?  Where nothing is wrong, everybody is safe, happy and employed?  Where there are no disenfranchised persons, no crime, no strife, and no dissent?

I am unfamiliar with such a place, personally.

WOOT? Outlawing swords?
Last time I was in Edinburgh my wife pulled me of the temptation of buying a claymore, lol. There were also normal broadswords. Always wanted to practice some hacking :D
So, I better hurry :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Where I used to live, the city rented time at a local range for their officers to undergo remedial training.  My wife and I were both there practicing one time while the lackies were on the other half of the lanes.  We both decided we would run and risk them shooting at us--they couldn't hit diddly!  Half of them still tensed up before pulling the trigger. :lol

In California carrying a loaded firearm on your person is only a misdemeanor, 12031PC... a 3" double edged knife or a 'baton', is a felony 12020PC.

I've had a CCW since 1990, if they ever decide to take it.. I'll still carry and pay the fine if caught.. considering it a CCW tax.

Your chances of getting a CCW in Ca are slim. The county you live in has issued 275 CCWs... 1 in every 610 residents.

Only a COP (chief of police) or Sheriff of the area where you live can issue you a CCW.. They can require classes, training, background and a psych evaluation. You can pass everything, and still be denied at the whim of the Sheriff or COP.

IF you get lucky enough, meaning you have a reason the Sheriff or COP agrees with.. a civilian CCW is good for either 90 days, or 2 years; Judicial 3 yrs, reserve police / custody 4yrs.

The one person I know who has a CCW is a Jeweler who at times carries a million+ in merchandise.. unfortunately being a law abiding solid citizen isn't enough.

I've had a CCW since 1990, issued by the COP who hired me... If I had to apply for one as a regular Joe, I probably get denied because I don't have a reason the officials deem important enough.

Edit: if you want to apply for a CCW in Ca, fill out these:
