It all sounds pretty stupid.
Magnitogorsk "Metallurg" is one of the best teams in post-Soviet hockey, and they have enough money to keep good players, they are sponsored by a huge metallurgical works.
Now it's interesintg to watch Russian championship, it's not like in Soviet times when Army won it year after year.
It's sad to see how best players leave Russia for NHL contracts, but so it goes. NHL lockout made that season in Russian league the most interesting in years, but even without NHL players it's still worth watching.
