What surprises me is that it's an obvious parody on cold-war stereotypes about Russians, like some other their songs (Ghenghiz-Khan is this how the band is called), that we, Soviet kids in early-80s didn't understand, and some American grown-ups in mid-2000s don't understand either.
BTW, I think it's inspired by Boney-M's "Rasputin", another all-time disco hit here
