Frank I love the details on that Dora. In-box, or after market?

Also I'm unfamiliar with that gruppe marking on the tail. Got any info?

Prolly just a personal variation of the 4th gruppe marking.

The instructions say that it's a Fw-190D-9, stationed in Bad Worishofen in 1945, however, no gruppe, geschwader, staffel or pilot is mentioned.

I used to have a small book on how to read the German aircraft markings, I'll see what the symbol and 18 stands for

Frank, the spinner of you Pony looks strange. Too angular or something...

Oh I could, it's part of the uber suckage collection though.  I used enamels for the nose, they were too thick and i didn't use tape so the line isn't straight, I screwed up the checkerboard, cousin busted off one of the props, the wingtip decals are peeling, it's just a real mess.  When I went back to Wal Mart to have another go they were all out (only $10).  Oh and the cockpit/canopy is all screwy.

That could be right, Im not very proud of the spinner myself.
Like Nirvana, I used enamel paints on it too (didn't have black paintbrush paint at that time)
So it turns out very thick to me aswell

Here's what you do when brush-painting enamels:

Get a bottle of airbrush thinner. This is not "brush cleaner" -- but smells like it. This just thins out the paint without damaging its ability to adhere to a surface. Take a brush full of paint, let the paint drip off the brush into a tray (one of those dimple trays), then take a small plastic dropper (called a "pipette" here) and put a drop or two of the thinner into the paint.

Then mix carefully (I use the brush itself) to get a smooth consistency. This makes the paint less blobby and less thick.

2 words of caution:

NEVER put the thinner into the paint bottle.

NEVER dip the same brush back into the bottle after mixing the thinner into the paint.

Over time this will make the paint solidify, so if you open your bottle of paint you'll find a hard rubbery blob. Use it outside the bottle but never let any get inside.

That will help the enamels lie down better on the surface of the model.

Wow, like the bare-metal effect. What scale?
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Monogram 1/48th B-17G. Apparently one of the recent moldings, with weighted tires and better detailed 50cals (over the original 70's molding)

Been a long time since I've done a Monogram kit. Ever since I put together a 1/48 Tamiya Wildcat I never looked back.
