Question about messenger
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:37:32 PM »
I know that it should be disabled, but for my situation here its handy to have it. I've went through everything I can think of. Making sure all services that need to be running are in fact running.

I can net send to my pc (the one im on now) but when i try to net send to the computer in question, I get the message sent confirmation and i can hear it dinging. So i know its receiving the message but its not showing up (its not displaying on the monitor) I'm stumped and can't figure out why its not displaying.

Both machines have XP pro, if any other information is needed i'll provide it.

Messenger service is different form Windows Messenger. The service is specifically set up to give windows"partners" your pc to hit with ads.

Right, I know that and am completely aware of that. As I said, in my situation is handy to have. I can from command prompt, net send (my pc name here) and receive the message fine, but the other computer..I know its receiving it, I can hear windows make its dong noise, but it just doesn't show up.

Both pc's have just sp1, so i don't think its a firewall issue. As I said im stumped, and wondering if anyone else has any experience with it.
