P-47 Landing Gear Doors
« on: August 31, 2006, 11:13:42 AM »
Has anyone figured out a way to mark the gear doors in a manner that makes them look right when they open?  Looks like the default lines don't match the angle of the door where it runs parallel to the strut.

--OR--

Is this a problem with the model

Which P47? the D25 was fairly close to the doors. The N's didn't give me *too* much of a problem. I've not started on the D11 or D40s yet, but I have some planned.

P.S. Got a screenshot?

EDIT: Also note the texture resolution you use in-game can throw things like panel lines and details into different positions. Make sure you're viewing it at 1024  textures. You don't have to fly at that level, but set it to check the skins out.

Got the 1024 textures selected (fly with em too).

Specifically on the D11.  The gear door seems to jump out of the wing instead of glide down.  I think it may have a bit to do with the illusion of the panel line marking the wheel well.  It looks like the panel line is at a different angle than the angle of the wheel door, parallel to the strut.
