Spin it anyway you want, but....
« on: November 10, 2000, 02:57:00 PM »
More voters in this country want Gore to be president:

Gore: 49,108,420
Bush: 48,889,821

Ya ya ya, I know. The electoral college thing. But in the land where the majority rules, the minority is going to be sitting in the executive branch of government for the next four years.

You know I'm right, and it's already making you Reps squirm!

Not so,my friend.  This is a country or used to be a country that respects the rule of law.

Constitution!!!

Now if you want to throw that away then be prepared for mob rule!!!

Besides all votes haven't been counted

The only votes that really count are the electors!!!!!

Don't let yourself be fooled by the democratic spinners saying "will of the people".  The will of the people as expressed by the constitution and the rule of law is much different then what the democrats mean when they say "the will of the people"!!!!

ALgore needs to give up before he completely undermines the Constitution and his future as a political leader!!!!

One other observation, if majority rules then Clinton would never have won.  Bush and Perot would have govered because they had the majority!!!  See what I mean by mob rule!!

Tell me something....... how can they have that figure, when 2 states haven't turned in their counts yet? I'm not trying to start a war here, but I've been wondering that all week.

Thanks for the over simplification. Yep the electoral vote = the constitution, like it or not. It's hard to tell what will happen in 4 years. It could be a third party rises to meet the needs of the people. It could be the Bush administration inspires the country as a whole to new heights while the democrats continue to spin and divide. I hope we move in the direction which would be in the best interest of the country and the majority of the people. No administration would be able to make everyone happy all the time. Personally I think we are so far divided, it is going to take an emergency of huge proportion to unify the country against a common foe.

time will tell

Where did you get that silly notion? Did you ever open a history book?
If not, did you ever vote? If you did, you would have seen on your ballot or voting machine a notice to the effect that you are voting for the electors proposed by certain parties.
From you statements here it sounds like you expected to be voting for the president.

banana....

First of all, Republicans don't squirm, we provide jobs and underwrite all of the Democrats entitlement programs.

Secondly, you might calm down a bit and let whatever is going to happen, happen. You'll live longer, which in turn will give my life purpose, in that I can support some social program of which you and your friends are most likely a participant.

Bye Bye!

Let me get this straight, Eagler. Now you're in favor of looking at voter inconsistencies?

So, you support that same effort in Florida, too. Right?

The recount was triggered by FL law here, we did it and Bush is ahead..

New Mexico was triggered by Bush when they found out about a polling computer issue which affected thousands of votes.

I do not support a third, fourth, fifth recount anywhere

Funny, not too long ago the question was whether Republicans would make a stink if Gore got the electoral college and Bush got the popular vote.

Yeah banana, the "electoral college thing" just like that "Bill of Rights thing" and that "First Amendment thing".  How silly of us to let these "things" get in the way of getting what we want...

The Electoral College system prevents population centers/rat holes such as NYC/DC Corridor, Chicago, and LA from dictating to the rest of the USA.    The STATES elect the President, as it should be.

The US is a Republic, not a Democracy.  "Majority Rule" is another way of saying "Mob Rule".

The Founding Fathers were very wise men.  And the likes of Hillary Clinton will by unsuccessful in their transparent attempts to destroy the Constitution.  At least i hope so.  This election has made me wonder how much longer the US will survive 40 years of Liberal control of Public Education and the Media.

If nothing else, the election results have shown that the "Dumbing Down" of America is a fact.

BINGO CABBY !! Great reply.

banana: This shows how close we are in a 50/50 split, which to me means we need to start finding issues we have in common and start working TOGETHER rather than trying to DIVIDE and EXPELL one another.   Find some common ground where 'Pubs and 'Dems can all get along.
