I would like to see a move to the popular vote. I think the liberals would get a nasty surprise. I grew up in the mid-west. I have lived for years in Missouri,Colorado, California, and Texas. I found most people to be politically conservative in all of these places. Half the people don't vote because it don't matter if they do. Under a one man one vote rule, I feel that this would change dramatically. These people ,who tend to be complacent, nonactivists. Might well take a more active role in choosing there government. And do so in suprising numbers.
For example, black people represent only 10 percent of the population. Yet they are very conscientious about voting. This enables people like Jesse Jackson to bully a lot of politicians. Other special interest groups have had the same leverage, based on the there geographical locations. One man one vote, might do away with these advantages, when the conservative in New York realizes that his vote will be added directly to the conservative,s in Texas.
