The problem (which I percieve to be a problem) is that very little european nations make their language an important commodity. For example, it's not that big of a deal to go to norway because a lot of the norwegian know English. And since everyone else knows english, it's not that big of a deal.
However, if you isolate your language, and not teach your students the most popular language, suddenly the words you speak become a commodity themselves, you and the people who know Norwegian become important. And since everyone in your country would know norwegian, everyone would be important.
