Basically ,Aplha is  the first phase of testing. Parts of the game have been complete/glued together for the first time and its functions and operations are being evaluated/tested.

Beta is 2nd phase. Games are  usualy functional and  playable at this point,  but  glitches and bugs still need to be ironed out.

Something like that :)

alpha is usually inside testing with a smaller group testing specific things
beta is usually a larger group testing which may have outside users partaking testing the app as a whole
