Star Gazing / New camera
« on: September 08, 2006, 09:37:58 PM »
Heard on local news that Yorkville was a possible hot spot for Hollywood Stars so I took a walk over (only a couple blocks from where my place is) and turned onto Bellair St. only to find hundreds of people standing around 'waiting' amidst tight security.

After a while I found a great spot to sit down in front of the main doors of Sassafraz, an upscale bistro in the heart of Yorkville. They had the red carpet out and a stretch limo out front (which is unusual because of the congestion in this old neighbourhood).

Wasn't too long before I found out what all the buzz was about: Brad Pitt, Angelina Joli and Micheal Keaton were there. Also saw another person but don't know his name...he was in the movie 'Road Trip'.

A couple from New Joisy sat down beside me; A husband and wife about my age and we struck a conversation. We spent about 3 hours together. With a great PR stunt, Starbucks sent beautiful young women out with large trays of drinks for everyone to help themselves to.

Went and bought myself the Canon Rebel XT late this afternoon so might be able to catch some action tomorrow (weather permitting).

Lots to learn on the use of this camera, but I have already taken two shots and patched it through my TV. They look pretty good. Will be looking forward to posting some shots when I get some that are good enough.

I have no sales resistence. The same 20 yr old blonde sold me both my new iPod and now this camera! I will have to stop going into that place

Heh, bad time to get an "old" camera...  Both nikon and Canon just released new 10mp versions of their high-end consumer DSLRs.

If you have the receipt and haven't killed the camera, I'd take it back and get the new version when it hits the stores.  The new Nikon D80 is available all over the place and the new Canon Digital Rebel XTi should be available pretty soon.  IMHO definately worth the price premium on those over the "old" ones.

Mannnn I thought this was going to be a thread about REAL stars as in outserspace

Not these over hyped hollywood egomaniacs.

They are just people who play make beleive for a living.

You wanna photograph real human stars.
Go photograph the fireman charging into a burning building or a soldier giving candy to a kid in Iraq.

THOSE are the real human stars ;)

Eagl thanks for the heads up man, I really appeciate that.

It is actually because of the newer model that I got this brand new Rebel XT for and extra $200 off. (it was already on sale)

I made a really good deal on this camera. The newer model is better in small ways and will list here for about $1250-1400 dollars (estimated)

So to get this one at the price I did was 'right place & right time)

Why didn't you just go into Sassafraz? Why would any rational human want to camp outside an "upscale" bristo?

Did you have a "loser" ID badge on at all times?

I just had an idea that may be right up your alley.

Maybe you could get a job at this place? Then you could make some money AND get to see the cool people who come in........ but you would have a better seat!
