Iraq Takes Command of Armed Forces
« on: September 10, 2006, 07:50:48 AM »
The United States military authorities in Iraq turned over command of one of Iraq's ten divisions to the new government on Thursday.  This would be the first step toward the government being given full control of its own security, and would thus allow the beginning of a draw-down in the levels of foreign military forces in Iraq.

U.S. authorities have stated that the rate of transfer of command of Iraqi divisions is projected to be about two a month.

Considering I have a son that is about to head back to Iraq for another tour.....I'd say this is good news.

Stay the course in Iraq or cut our losses and abandon the country as a waste of time?

That festering craphole will never be anything but a waste of time. If we stay the course, it'll be a waste of American lives and money to boot.

well at least this time it will be our bunch of animals. perhaps we'll keep them controlled long enough to be able to mount attacks from there and  conquer the whole region.  remember we need the crude so we can run our suvs while you subjects peddal around in your dinky little toy cars.

who's homer?

well none the less, yes I'm quite sure that whomever we infallible Americans place in power there will know how to kowtow to their masters.  that is unless we infallible Americans commit a UK type error and allow another left winger into the executive branch.

yes I'm sure Iran is all big and bad and causing quite a bit of concern to the fairer continental types but I see little cause for American concern.  iran is a weak state much more weak than iraq.  I suspect that the letters home from those forces will be as follows, "American forces attacked today, I ran".  I suspect that when the fighting starts they will be crawling over each other in a mad rout.

the persians have historically been strong in that weak region but remember we in the west have defeated them throughout history.  We Americans are now the keepers of the flame.  since it seems that our UK allies will be electing another neville chamberlain type government soon they will not factor into the equation and will probably be handwringing on the sidelines so you needn't fear as it will be our fight and our glory.
