Lost UDP and Disco's
« on: September 05, 2006, 11:09:41 AM »
I know that this has been posted several times already, but wanted to put my 2 cents in also.  Since this last patch I continually lose UDP and have been discoed at least once a game if not more.  It seems as if I lose UDP either as soon as I log in, or within about 10 minutes..... then I get alot of warping for about 20 seconds, then it seems the game settles down and runs fine..  anyway, thats my only gripe right now.... lol...

I got disco'd 3 times in bombers the other day.  The only thing was it seemed when I was bombing the town with the 4klb bomb on the lancs, I get the disco.  That happened 2 times in a row.  After that I used it else where and it was fine.  Not sureif it something in town or what but was wierd.

Did you guys make sure the *new* AH after update is still allowed by Firewall/AntiVir (if you dont have them disabled while playing)

Try running ping plot when discoes happen (http://www.pingplotter.com. Issue might be on your side or might be on ISP side. Im running the new version perfectly stable.

The biggest thing is to make sure no other program is accessing your Internet connection while in the game.

Windows Firewall should be off.
Antivirus, off
Windows Update, off
If you have a recent copy of Adobe Acrobat reader it installs an auto updater, make sure this is off.
Java run time also install an auto updater, turn this off.
Anti-Spyware auto updaters Off (i.e. Windows Defender)

AH should have a close to exclusive access to your machine as you can give it. It should be the only program access the Internet.

I too had a frequent disco problem that I was sure was associated with the latest patch since the problem became evident the same day the patch came out. I was all but positive. Turned out to be a localized connectivity problem with my ISP.

I am having ctd's out the wazoo since the last patch. No warping, no lag, just bam! ctd. Doesn't seem to matter what main arena I'm in.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
