Ack...
« on: September 15, 2006, 12:24:11 PM »
Since the era arena's are here to stay, does anyone think that we should do something about ack???  With the current AA gun's we have in the game, were there any major changes from 39-45?  Is this a window to possibly add new AA guns into the late war arena that correllate with the era?

There were were no substantial ack lethality changes through out the war.

Ack could kill you in '38 just like it could in '45.

AH is not real WW2 air combat, its a game and as such there needs to be a certain amount of consistency. In short, the ack is fine, quit whining.

There is no progression from the 20mm Oerlikon to the Type 4. They are different guns used in different contexts.

Ack can be broken into 3 groups Light (MG caliber), Medium (Bofors, 20, 37mm etc) and Heavy 72mm, 75mm, 88, etc...) The biggest difference in ack through-out the war was in its deployment, concentration and in its organization.

As I said above there needs to be a certain level of consistency over all the arenas or else the whining never ceases. In games folks don't take well to randomness and variation.

Speaking of ack, why are we now unable to man a field gun or shipboard AA or gun position? That was the case in most instances when I tried. I know there's tweaking to be done, yada yada yada, but for the here and now the new format sucks.

you would think with all the practice, they'd be better in 45 than they were in 39 :)
