September 15th - Battle of Britain day...
« on: September 15, 2006, 08:54:34 AM »
here in the UK we celebrate today as the victory over the luftwaffe in the BoB, although it isn't really very celebrated :)

i was thinking of running several BoB missions in the early war arena this evening, all are welcome. i'd love to have multiple sides envolved, would be great to have spits and hurris up to defend against a raid of JU88s and 109s :)

if anyone would like to join me you'd be more than welcome, thought it might be afun thing to do to celebrate the day and what it represents :)

To the RAF Pilots

To the RAF Radar Controllers

To Luck

To the Bad Judgement of the Axis's Leadership

To the men and women in England who helped make those airplanes

To the U.S. for given England the supplies she needed in her Finest hour.

To anyone I missed that help England hold out until the U.S. arrived.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

i was going to start my own thread, but i gues it could slip in here....

anyway.

Here i was, flying my perk ride Lancaster down to bomb some rook women and children, and the noise of my lancaster on my speakers started to get drowned out by this rather loud propeller noise..... i run to my window, to see a spit fly right over my house.....

.....in a instant i grabed my camera and run to the front of the house, to see the only flyable Lancaster disapear of into the distance, totally missing my chance to take a picture. And i got a rather blury shot of the spit.

turns out they are flying down to Shoreham for the airshow over the weekend.

the response of people in the arena: "dont lie":rofl

also to those luftwaffe pilots who got caught up in a war and decided to give their lives to the only country they knew!

RAF

Fantastic! I had something similar to that happen once. Was driving home from lunch passed the airport with my friend, and looked over on the runway and... a B-17 was sitting there getting ready to take off! Rushed home, got the camera, and was able to get some blurry shots of the B-17, B-26, and another plane taking off. Turns out they were in town for some show or something, and I didn't find out about it until after the fact. :( Sad, I coulda seen 'em up close, but at least I got to see them leave.

I'd have loved to seen the Spit and Lancaster. Do you know what Mark the Spitfire was?
