Zoom problem
« on: September 15, 2006, 05:29:38 AM »
I had button "D" on my x52 set up for zoom toggle, and used the slider in conjunction with it, everything was working fine for months and then the zoom just stopped working last night. I have tried reinstalling the Saitek drivers, and reinstalled AH from scratch, the button shows up and functions normally in the Saitek software test, and in AH setup it recognizes the button when it is pushed like normal, but when I get in a plane, gv, tower etc there is no zoom action happening.

If I set the D button for something like "look left" it works fine on that,
I have the D button set as "View zoom toggle" and the slider set as "Analog inputs field of view".

Did I click something to turn it off, or a keystoke maybe? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is yesterday the first time you logged in since the update to 2.08?

They totally changed the controller stuff in that update.

Not sure if you mean the most recent 2.08, or the first 2.08 patch, but yes had no problems after each(I think the first 2.08 is what made me go get the stick), I played in the new style arena setup without any troubles for like 2 days.

If I set the zoom toggle to another button it still does not work, nor does it work trying to use the Z key and brackets to zoom in/out with. All the buttons on the stick work fine in the Saitek test, and can preform other actions in AH but the zoom is like dead.

edit: just noticed the mouse button and finger mouse that are on the throttle arent working in AH either, but they do work in the Saitek software, I never used it much in the game, but I know it was working previously.

edit #2: Also I just noticed I dont have the profiler thing running in the task bar, Im thinking maybe its driver related at this point, going to try messing with those.

Thanks again for any help.

I had that same problem, on several different sticks. A microsoft sidewinder and then I had an X45 that did that, and I'm sorry to say that I can't remember exactly how I fixed it.

There should be a joystick.XX something file in the aces high folder, might try deleting that and starting the joystick from scratch. And I would avoid Saiteks stick setup thing, and just set it up from inside AH. Alot easier that way, and easier to fix things if they go haywire.

Also, you may want to look into Dhauzimmers drivers, and XD profile. Everything on that can be found here

Got it working again, I went and found my Saitek install cd and used that, then when I tried to install the upgrade drivers from the Saitek site my pc freaked and restarted with no Saitek installed at all  so I reinstalled the cd drivers, deleted the controller file in the AH folder, set the controller up again in AH and the zoom toggle is working with the D button, right now I am just using the brackets for zooming in and out, leary of that slider  screwing it up again or something hehe.

Thanks for the help.
