Mystery object delays shuttle landing

I hate coincidences. Especially when the whole ball of wax is at stake. Risk = Exposure X Consequence. Full observational inspection including and up to an EVA inspection.
Of course a level three diagnostic is in order.(Wink to STTNG fans);)
What say you?

....NASA engineers said they think the object may have shook loose from the shuttle during the firing of jets in preparation for landing. Sensors on the shuttle's right wing detected some kind of impact  about the same time the object was first spotted.

But NASA officials said the fact that all of the sensors in that section were triggered -- rather than just one or two -- suggests they were set off by vibrations from the jet firings.......

Well looks like they'll scan the shuttle's belly and flight surfaces when the crew wakes up at 845PM EST and see if its that filler material.  They mentioned maybe even an EVA.  The object is moving away at a good clip so I wonder if they'll go get it in a spacewalk?

My first thought was the Heaven's Gate people are probably very pissed that they missed the real ship.
