« on: September 14, 2006, 06:26:22 AM »
Just downloaded the demo.. I'm having some fun with it.. Just wondering if any of you are looking to pick it up. Most folks say this is better than Company of Heros, but I can't say becasue I've never played CoH.

Pretty interesting RTS... BTW turn down your speakers before visiting the website they have a loud and anoying header clip...

I'm playing the retail and love it. It's actually the next version of  Soldier's "Hero's of WWII"

I wouldn't compare it to Company of Heros. COH is more of a Warcraft 3 clone in WW2 clothing.

If you like "Faces of War", check out the up incoming Theater of War

I like the look and feel of FoW.. The only thing I don't like its being developed with UBI... and they have a knack for half asin things..

Faces of war is junk compared to Company of Heroes(played both demos). Cant wait to get home today and install COH.

COH is one awsome WW2 strategy game. Its gettin rave reviews everywhere.

Theres a demo out, check it out.

Real Time Strategy is rubbish. It only really works in 2D, and even then its just too frantic.

Now, if you combined COH graphics with Combat Mission's turn based approach, you'd have an incredible game.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

I've read so many articles comparing FoW and CoH and all of them say the damage model and terrain messhing in FoW is much better.

One of the biggest examples was that in FoW you can get a head shot on someone where as in CoH you had to lower their health to 0, meaning there were "damage" zones etc.

I'll try them both out and see what I come up with.

I agree, RTS games that have you build resources are silly games, talking about realism is a waste of time.

I want a remake of Steel Panthers lol.

got it yesterday and it took me the whole evening to try & get past the 1st german mission in tactical mode. Still haven t succeeded. I am supposed to stop a full brit invasion of the Neimeghem()? bridge with 3 soldiers. eh.

After 6 hours and 99887658765 save & loads, I got to the point where you have to run back to the original side of the bridge... then comes a tank and I am already stuck.

looks nice though...

I'm opposite to your opionion. CoH is too simplistic with typical RTS layout with WWII equiptment. Almost like an offspring of C&C and CoD. Arcade realistic CoD modelling meets with the C&C RTS elements.

FoW doesn't really have any realistic modelling either, but it has more unique elements. I'm kind of tired of cloned games made appealing to the majority of players.

For some parts I liked SHoWWII better than FoW.

I agree COH is nothing more than a warcraft 3 clone with SPR inspired WW2 graphics.  I was bored quickly. Upgrade to grenades, please  :lol

Oh and you gotta love the overdone "cool"cussing that constantly repeats.

I agree.  But at this time, I'd settle for an update of CM1 & CM2 to CM3 standard.

Unfortunately, I think this is the closest thing we are going to get to a remake: WinSPWW2

I think such a bundle pack is already under works, featuring the whole timeline from CM1 to CM3 with the latest gameplay features.
