Goon Formations
« on: August 11, 2006, 02:45:21 PM »
How about giving us the option to have formations of 3 C-47s?  It would be nice for resupply & troop operations, and I don't think it would unbalance the game too much given that we are unarmed meat for any fighter that happens along.

Even if there was a perk point charge for the drones it would be worth it (and give us something to spend those bomber perks on).

Sounds nice, but think about it, now instead of having to take care of 10 troops on the field. You have to worry about 30. I just don't think its fair for people in "8-Player". As for MA, what is the "missions" tab for?

Rather than C-47 formations just bring three different goons from three different angles.  You still get your thirty troops. plus you ake it harder for the enemy.  Takes a bit more team work.

I still like the idea, as I need some way to spend bomber perks.  Think a B-29 would be nice.

Once again, no to the B-29! Yeah, just fly in 3 people using a C-47. That would keep the AH "team-work" spirit alive. As I mentioned here .

Hey, look at our forefathers and the laws they implemented that every citizen is allowed a voice to their superiors! We are the smallest civilians of this community, and we're talking to the government about what the farmes need!

I'm concerned about the MA, and do you not have 3-bomber formations for people in 8-player?  I'd like the Goon formation option mostly for increased resupply efficiency.  An unarmed goon (even a formation) isn't going to last long against a single enemy fighter, so I don't see what the problem would be in 8-player anyway.

goon formation = great idea....

it takes a single fighter to take out supplies or troops, or etc.... at an airfield

How many goons does it take to get supplies back up?
enough, that resupply is overlooked as a viable option for most of us in the game.

What about taking troops to an enemy airfield?

when confronted by an enemy plane, the c 47 pilot has two viable options:
1...continue flying straight, give the enemy something to shoot at and die
2...begin evasive maneuvers, try to outfly the enemy for one or two passes in hopes he gets shot down

since goons are made out of cardboard and elmer's glue anyways, the flying straight option is going to do nothing more than give the pursuing fighter 2 more easy kills

the evasive maneuvers option will eliminate the 2 drones anyways, since they mysteriously explode when the lead turns too tight and gets away from them

including goon formations then, will reintroduce resupply flights as a viable option in the game

Good idea, but give it some kind of perk value.

Single goon = Free
1 Wingie Goon = 5-10 Perks
2 Wingie Goons = 10-20 Perks

Everyones got bomber perks to waste, and are itching to spend them on SOMETHING. Maybe even make where if you are using the  goonie formation, you actually spend the perks, and do not get them back.

I dont see that we need it. If you want extra troops, have a a squaddie bring an extra goon

Not everyone has thousands of perk points, and not everyone wants to waste them, so lets say..... a big ****ing NO to being garunteed to lose points with the formations. I for one wouldnt touch anything that didnt even give a 1% chance of keeping the points I spend. Not worth it.

i wouldnt mind being able to take only 1 goon with troops, but i think it would benefit the game some to be able to take a formation with field supplies.
