you are mistaken, their only role was bombing. and they were harder to shoot down than is commonly assumed. in the early part of the war, nobody had incindiary bullets, so they were just shooting lead into the bags which did practically nothing. and once incindiary bullets were used more, the zeps still had a higher cieling than any fighters. the germans were a lot of things, but stupid wasnt one of them.

WWI airships did NOT carry any aircraft EVER, so you dont have to worry about coding plane limits.
Are you sure? Im not sure this happened DURING the war, but around that time, I have heard of and seen film of aircraft 'latching on' to an airship. They werent front-line fighters, but scouts. And I know im not the only one who has heard of this. It was only one or two, and connected only with small hooks, something like the 'Gremlin' (?) and the B-36 (?).
