John Mayer...The guy is actually really cool...He will come back to Connecticut every 3 months or so, and he can always been seen hanging out at some of the college bars...He is always willing to sign an autograph, and even better, always up for a conversation...Twice ive seen john just start jamming on and he gave us a free acoustic show!  I hear he is also pretty good at comedy, but i havnt seen him to stand up yet....All around great guy though, who hasnt let his celebrity status get 2 his head

Went to elementary school with Eric Harris, one of the Columbine shooters.  This wasn't in high school, but somehow I'm glad for that.

Better check the contract and make sure the position doesn't read "bent over." ;)

This isn't high school, but a memory this topic sparked. When I was in grammar school, one of my classmates was the niece of Apollo 11's comand modual pilot, Michael Collins. I think it was 1970 or 1971 he visited her family (the Wards who owned Ward Lumber in New Orleans) and gave a talk at our grammar school. It was powerful stuff for an 11 year old. He stayed at the home of my classmate and they renamed her street to Gen. Collins.

I haven't thought about that for a long time. That was different age (there's no wistful emoticon).

John Hughes graduated from my HS in Northbrook IL

Apparently his North Suburban Chicago HS existance really made an impact for some odd reason.

Sixteen Candles
The Breakfast Club
Pretty In Pink
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

All of these movies pretty much captured my HS  experience, which was apparently similar to John's of a decade earlier. I hope you were as bored by the big screen versions as I was by the real thing :) The Breakfast Club in particular captured the the archetypes very well.

Had a bunch of friends as extras in Pretty in Pink. The two big guys behind the wall of beer cans -- I played football with one and the other was a big football talent from our local rival HS. One of the few players you had to specifically counter as an individual.

[edit: also had a lot of pro athletes kids there, since many lived in the area. One girl from my class ended up being Will Purdue's go to girl for a while]
