You give a guy one year with a team and no payroll and fire him because it "it was not a good fit". All of this because the coach stood up for what was right.

My first reaction was he's the owner and he can do whatever the hell he wants, but after reading the coach's reasoning, how can you fire the guy for being right.  You coach your guys not to question the umps and all the while 10 ft away is the owner of the team doing exactly that.  Does anyone else see a problem with this?  Not to mention the fact, that this same owner would, by proxy, through the MLB Commisioner, enforce disciplinary actions against any player/coach that publicly questions officials decisions.  The ironies here are remarkable.  Add it to the list of other "messed up" things.

To be fair to the owner, I don't know all of the ins and outs of they daily Marlins operation.  For those that follow the Marlins, did the players like this coach Girardi?

From what I understand, Girardi was fairly liked.  From what Ive read and seen of him, he seems like a pretty classy, friendly guy.

I think the decision to fire him is complete BS though.  With what he was given, Id say he did a pretty darn good job.  Especially in only one year.  I think if he was given a few more years he could turn the Marlins into some pretty tough contenders.

What really bugs me though is the fact that Girardi was trying to teach his team good sportsmanship and respect and the owner blows that up in his face.  Girardi's team is very young and trying to get them to respect the umpires and their decisions is great, but the owner was way out of line IMO.

Oh well, it sounds like the owner has some problems himself.  Especially with the fact that he's had 4 managers in as many years.  Im also sure that Girardi will have a managers spot waiting for him next year.

Unfortunately our Braves are losing a good guy to take his place. Another sacrifice on the altar of bad ownership.

Uh Beavis......

Huizenga doesn't own the marlins....

...............

Now if you complaining about the freaking dolphins and their dim witted offensive coordinator then your complaint against Huizenga is well placed.
