Mosquito FB6 Pilot notes.
« on: March 06, 2000, 01:24:00 PM »
Hi All,

Possibly not of interest to AH pilots just yet but here goes.

I was over my folks the other day helping my dad have a clear out. Amongst the rubbish we came across a set of pilot notes for the "Mosquito FB6".

After reading them I can confirm that the information contained is essential for any budding Mosquito pilots and contains such gems of information as "Wheels down" in the landing instructions (Go on admit it   ). and don't fire your rockets for several minutes after releasing drop tanks. (This mistake was probably only ever made once   ). Very nice cockpit photos (With legend) as well

They are in perfect condition and I have scanned them (52 pages in all) onto "jpeg" format. They are to a very high quality so unfortunatley vary in size between 2 & 6 megs (Per 2 pages), so it's not really practicle to email them but I am more than happy to provide soft copies on "zip disk" or CD. (Disks and/or CD & Stamped addressed Envelope please).

If anyone is interested email me at snafu@strayduck.com and I will forward my address . Alternativly anyone got a web page and would like them. (Might make more sense). I am not sure about "copyright's" etc though so your on your own.

HTC would they be of interest to you.

He thinks he also has the same for the Spit IX and the Lanc B1 If they turn up I'll let you know.

I'd suggest checking with the MoD first, just in case.

Hi Snafu,

I missed your post the first time.  I'm interested in getting some copies.  I know I have Mosquito IV notes, but I'm not sure about the VI.  I know I don't have notes on the Spit IX and Lanc.  I'd be very interested in those.

Suprised there wasn't more response to this . Oh well.....

QTS - I did contact the MOD (How sad is that). No reply so I assume they are off the official secrets list

Pyro - It's amazing what you can beg, find or borrow.

The list has grown a bit. It is now as follows.....

Mosquito FB6
Mustang III
Spitfire IX, XI, XVI (Inc ref to "Bubble" canopy versions)
Typhoon 1A, 1B
Lancaster I, III, VII, X
Tempest II, V - (.pdf files, with poor quality photo's).

Bits & Pieces
Hurricane - Cockpit & fuel system only (Various Prints)
P47D Construction data & supercharger & Water injection & Hydraulics details.

I should finish scanning them this weekend. I will burn a CD and send it to HTC (FOC co's I'm nice like that)

Thanks Snafu, as it turns out I have 2 copies of the FB VI notes already.  Actually the only ones on your list that I don't have are the Spit IX and the Mustang III.  Typhoon notes could come in handy quickly because my copy is somewhere between the UK and Texas and I'm getting antsy.

As I was cleaning up my office today, I found the notes on the Mustang III.  I didn't realize that I owned that.

Hey Snafu

What would a guy have to do, to get a copy of that CD?

Willing to trade some pilots manuals (still need to scan em) or copies of original test docs on a couple of different planes.

Pyro, Vermillion,
Now my CD Writer has self destructed   (I think someone might be trying to tell me something).

Anyway, I have reduced the quality somewhat. (OK though & you can still read the cockpit gauges etc).   The images are now around 700kb per 2 pages. I have emailed you a few samples. (Unmetered internet access does have it's uses).   If they are not good enough I'll have to get my CD writer sorted. Otherwise let me know and I will send the rest (Probably at the rate of acouple of books a week).

Let me know snafu@strayduck.com
