I'd like to see Gingrich take the republican nomination but I guess he is trailing both McCain and Giulani.

I'm voting Walken in '08, or Jello Biafra.

Storch, there are two reasons why Europeans understand the American political system. Neither have anything to do with envy.

1. What happens in the US directly affects the economies of all countries in the world. Its in our interest to understand US politics.

2. We have education systems and media that acknowledge there's a world beyond the borders of our own countries. Unlike the average American, the average European is taught to take an interest in international affairs.

Militarily and economically the US commands respect, but there is little about the US that (Western) Europeans envy.

I think europeans are somewhat envious of America and Americans.  I wouldn't categorize it as green with envy enviousness but envy none the less.  as an example there are few europeans that are as informed about what is going on politically or culturally in brasil or argentina as they are in America even though both of these resource rich nations are very important euro trading partners.

I disagree that the goings on in America and the American economy directly affect anyone in europe to any great extent.

are you implying that we Americans are unaware of other cultures?  I believe we are quite aware of other western cultures, we have garrissoned your continent for the better part of one half of a century and acted as your shield at our own expense.

I see you are in california, there are many, many euros that desire emigrating to the US.  In fact I understand that the quotas for european immigration to the United States is very restricted by INS.  The untold story is that we currently have a problem with illegal irish and russian immgration here.  I wonder how many Americans are intertested in emigrating to any european country?  I suspect not too many.

I think that when someone says "the land of opportunity" no one thinks the speaker is referring to the EU.

just saying.  anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This board is in the US Storch, what else are we going to talk about? If it were in Argentina we may be discussing the finer points of beef farming or the UK’s claim on the Maldives but it aint so we don’t.

I’m guessing that most of our knowledge of the US comes from answering posts that claim that in the UK, you have to invite burglars into your house every weekend and make them a cup of tea, or that 100 deaths a year in a population of 60 million is proof that our gun laws don’t work.

To be honest, its pretty easy to shine as a sophisticated type with a firm grasp of geo politics amongst so much dung.

Chuck Norris for President,
 Vice President,
 Sec of Defense,
Army,
Navy,
Air Force
and Marine Corp,
Speaker of all the houses,
he'll be the Senate,
Congress
and the Supreme Court.

There will be no Republicans,
no Democrats,
No U.N.,
No NATO
just the Norris Party.

No other Country would mess with us...period!

a lil deep but think about it.

good heavens miss lucy I believe we've been insulted!

please excuse me trikky us slow witted americans just cannot grasp subtle messages.  please explain how really view us.   perhaps by your excrement comment you meant me personally?  I hope it isn't a personal insult because your opinion is highly valued by me and I would simply be crushed, emotionally scarred even.

please allow me to point out that while this poster is accessing this board from the US, most posters are also in the US and the physical location for it's servers are marginally in the US this is in fact an international forum.

trikky do you mean the malvinas also known as the falklands?  aren't the maldives in the indian ocean?  I know you english types claim all of creation for your little island nation so my distinction may not really matter,  however please clear up this minor point for me.

thanks
