I've got a question...

I can't find it on the google community, and I'm too lazy to register over there, etc etc.

I want to link placemark A with place mark B and C and D, and get directions through all of them.

I'm trying to bypass a certain area, and stay on the highway opposed to getting off the highway and traveling country roads.

Is this possible with the free version of google earth?

It's safe to drive through Hazzard County these days. It just hasn't been the same since Boss Hog left, and Cletus and Rosco passed away.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why not try it and see?

I've used Google Earth and MapQuest and stuff like that and they all seem to get me where I want to go eventually.

In many such programs, it's often easiest to break the trip into segments between each major point rather than trying to establish one huge trip with waypoints or via this and that.

Ultimately, although it still costs big bucks, you might want to try an electronic "personal trip assistant" like Garmin's Nuvi 350.  It's portable and can greatly enhance every vehicle and every journey.

Not sure but if you are a little less lazy you can just do it in segments and add it together.

http://local.live.com/

Works much like google earth, but you dont' have to install it. Runs in your browswer, works fine with firefox or IE.

Has "pushpins" you can set, make notes on, etc.
You can switch back & forth between "road" and "Airial" views.
Has an awesome search function for finding locations.

I found it doing research on rivers to kayak, in my area it has much better resolution than google earth, and I prefer the interface.

If you need a hand figureing it out give me a yell at

I currently have it in borken segments,

I wanted to be able to connect those segments.

So I could get a more accurate time guess and directions.

On most map progs. you just type in your starting point & the end point & it will calculate all that automatically for you.

Personaly I have found local live to be next to useless. That said, you'll find mistakes in all of them sooner or later. Just use what works for you! :D

Kayaks??? I hear someone mention kayaks?
Brings back fond memories of 'Red Canoes!!!' and kayaking the Delaware.

OK, I'll shaddup and let you get back to your discussion.
