Game Play Hiccup
« on: October 07, 2006, 09:58:47 PM »
I just started noticing a little hiccup in the game play.  My frame rate goes from 60 (which I set as max) to 48 when I get close to the bad guys and fire, but the annoying part is not the frame rate.  It actually appears that about 1 sec is skipped.  My screen stops and then starts again.  I did just install the high res pack.  I don't think that should have caused any problems.  My info is below.

I disabled the preloading of skins and objects.  That seems to have helped, but it still does it occasionally.

Try setting the "Maximum Texture Size" down one notch, if you are at 512 or 1024.

Preloading of skins should not be done, unless you have 2.5GB of RAM in your computer, or more.  Go ahead and preload textures into system memory, if you are running 512, or less, on the "Maximum Texture Size".

Thanks Skuzzy.  That seems to have fixed it for now.

I was going to ask what the bit rate of your soundcard was. I had problems when I had mine set to 24bit, but no problems at 16bit. But it looks like Skuzzy fixed it for you.
