Correct GVs in right time period
« on: October 05, 2006, 03:31:42 PM »
i think if AH is gonna split the arenas into different time periods then the correct GVs need to be put in.

some examples would be

a T-34/A model wouldnt be in a late war arena the T-34/85 was brought into production in 1943 . By the end of 1945, over 57,000 T-34s were built: 34,780 original T-34 tanks in 1940–44, and another 22,559 T-34-85s. chances are in the late war you saw a t-34/85 then a t-34/76

a PzKpfw IV Ausf H wouldnt be in a early war arena cause it wasnt put into production til dec of 1942 almost 1943 and the model J was in production early 1944 to the end of the war

the m-16 MGMC shouldnt be in the early arena. The M16 MGMC was standardized in December 1942, with White Motor Company beginning production of the vehicle in May 1943. White Motor Company would produce 2,891 vehicles - of which 568 were converted earlier M13 MGMC half-tracks.

m-8 shouldnt be in early war. Over 8500 M8's were built between 1942 and 1943

all the LVTA's were not around till late 1943 ..  .. so they shouldnt be in early areana either ..

any more examples are welcome

While I agree with you in principle, we need replacement vehicles before removing any from any given arena.  The M-8, for example, while being a mid and late war vehicle, for now is as good a stand in as we have for the early war lightly armed / armored tanks.  The absence of towed AA guns means we need something as an AA vehicle in EW, so the M-16 is currently it.

If (hopefully when, but I am not holding my breath) the vehicle set gets beefed up with more rides, then we can begin arguing timeframes in earnest. :)

i looked the panzer isnt there in early war so my mistake but the other vechicles are that wasnt even around when the "early" part of the war was taken place so it kinda defeats the reason of not having it ..

The current plane/vehicle set doesn't seem to have been planned for historical 'appropriateness' or 'capability balancing'. Now we have arenas by time period perhaps there will be an incentive to balance things out.

However I think the only way HTC will get extra planes/vehicles/vessels into the game is if they open up the design/creative process more for the enthusiasts. HTC could award a year's free subscription to all new aircraft which 'conform' to their (presumably strict) design requirements. And allow them to 'sign' the plane somewhere in the cockpit.

There must be a lot of latent (and free) design talent out there.
Here we are, living on top of a molten ball of rock, spinning around at a 1,000mph, orbiting a nuclear fireball and whizzing through space at half-a-million miles per hour. Most of us believe in super-beings which for some reason need to be praised for setting this up. This, apparently, is normal.

We would need a tool for that, like the map creator
