Hello, and a question..
« on: October 13, 2006, 03:11:23 AM »
Hey guys, I've been registered on the boards for a little while and flying for an even longer while, but haven't posted yet outside the scenario forums. I guess I'm just tired of lurking here

Anyway, but I also have a question! - does colliding with the inanimate debris of a shot down enemy do any damage to your plane? You guys all know the drill, depending on your custom sounds...get in close on a bogey, squeeze until the boom, but then inevitably still hear the unpleasant crash of debris on your plane.

Now, not once has this ever resulted in quantifiable ctrl+d style damage for me, but I was wondering if it had the same effect of, say, a few .50 cal hits- that is, it makes whichever afflicted part of the aircraft weaker and more vulnerable for further hits.

If it does indeed begin cumulative damage, it would be something to take account for in future engagements.

No. Hitting *debris* only makes a screeching sound and besides damage to your heart rate does nothing to your plane.

Colliding with the *carcass* of the down plane on the other hand can result in a collision (with collision message) and damage.

Yeah, it is really freaky when you fly through a wing after it has been blown off....  Facial expressions in order of action:
:noid (nme in your sights)
:t (blasting them away)
:huh & :O (debris flying back at you)
 (after the scraping has stopped)
:rofl (flying home to land)
