3600Kg and still full ack on CV?
« on: September 26, 2006, 07:18:05 PM »
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it is rather screwy.

Yesterday I flew in the EWA.  A CV was sighted, and I take off in a Ju-87 with the MOAB.  I get 12k over the CV and make a perfect attack on the CV.  The text buffer fills with object destroyed messages.  OK, 1800Kg on the center of the CV, half way there and again another attack on the CV.   Boom, more gun batteries destroyed but CV not down:huh .

3600Kg on the CV, souldn't it be settling on the bottom by now?  GRRR! I up some Ju-88s and my torpedoes kill the CA and a DE but the 5" ack makes me yodel like Swiss cheese.  Not a problem, because the CV should be DEACKED!  Another torpedo run should do it.  5" Flack bursts, erupt around my Ju-88s:huh .  I zoom in on the CV and it has a FULL complement of guns on the island.

WTF  1800Kg dead center, and 1800kg on the aresting gear it souldn't have a mannable or auto gun left on it.

Am I wrong or what?

That is a negative sir.  Ack does not get repaired on a Task Group.

Then I don't know.  Because to my knoledge it stays down if it gets killed, unless they changed it.  That would suck, because unless you put enough damage on the CV to outright kill it you have a fresh CV every time you come back.:cry

So you have to get three torpedoes or 8000/6000Lbs of ordinance on the CV within 30 min to kill it.  That is unpossible esp. in the EWA, unless you go after it with a Stuka Geshwander.

Here we go again with the divebombing Lancasters.

It has always repaired itself. The ONLY THING in a task group that doesn't repair itself is the radar.

I've seen the radar repair itself too. The CV will repair itself completely if you wait long enough. It's always been that way to my knowledge.

The radar would repain in AHI, as I remember. In AHII, the radar does not repair no matter how long it sits there. The carrier's hardness will eventually return to the original state, though.

3,600kg is not enough. If I remember correctly, you need something along the lines of 4,000kg.

Alright, fine, go test it. Next time you're getting ready for work, open up Offline mode. Find a Bishop CV and destroy the radar through the Destroy Objects menu and let it sit. If you haven't changed anything, all of the settings are the oldMA standard. If you're diehard, turn ProtectObjects off and bomb your own CV.

When you come home from work, that radar circle will still be red.

as long as the carrier is up, all the fleet boats including the cruiser, acks, 5' and 8' radar etc will regen themselves after some time.

Trade your Ju87 with a Ju88, it will do the job.

I can't believe how many people actually think the radar regenerates on a task group. It's the only part that doesn't. If the group respawns at its port, then yes it has radar. If it's still alive after taking a radar hit, the radar is down until the fleet respawns.
