A Finnish Bf 109 G-14
« on: October 14, 2006, 10:17:18 AM »
A Finnish Bf 109 G-14 by Dux and me.

Actually Dux started it when the skin files were different (bigger) and I modified and edited it to the new AH II skin format.

I have removed and added many details to that skin and also redone the whole right fuselage, upper wings and elevators. So the credits are 50% 50% to me and Dux!

Is it ok Dux, isn't it? ;)

And here's the original MT-507 in the  Tikkakoski Aerial museum:

Most of people call this plane from the Tikkakoski Aerial Museum as Bf 109 G-6, but actually it is Bf 109 G-14 without the water-methanol injection
system. It also has the same canopy type than G-14 and in it's original factory delivery document it has been identified as "Bf 109 G-14 Jabo Rei".

The G-14 was basically a late-war Bf 109G-6 with some parts (e.g. the tailfin) made of wood because of the shortage of strategic materials, especially aluminium.

It also had a FuG 16Z radio with which the G-14s were delivered. So it is very  close to a G-14. One could call it as a G-14 since many G-14s lacked the MW-50  aswell due to production problems anyway. This would give finns a 109G which would  have an Erla-haube since the new G-6 model is modeled with the heavy frame canopy.

And this picture is must, I have really been in that MT-507's cockpit:

Very well done, looking forward to shooting it down in my P-51.

Thank you. Yes Ball, the cockpit is really narrow and small. I am 180 cm (6 feet) tall and it was really difficult to go inside and away from there.
