hmm... yeah, I've never heard of that before... but maybe you are all talking about "deviation" of the magnetic compass?

Gyroscopic precession, magnetic deviation, whatever.  Its been a while since my written.  Bottom line, wet compass and gyro don't match.  Haven't noticed it in any other plane but the Jug variants.

Perhaps this represents the "general deviation" of the average online gamre.

Well, Gyroscopic precession -=is=- an entirely unrelated topic when compared to  magnetic deviation of a standard float type compass..

The magnetic compass should be correct. The DG (Directional Gyro aka,.. heading indicator should then be set to your compass.

I don't know if it's really necessary as this is a -=game=- and not an instrument trainer, but it would be a nice touch to keep pilots sharp when navigating to targets to check the effects of precession on their DG.

Well, for a practical application--if me and my squadies are trying to fly a combat spread formation and I'm giving them headings, the difference can get us separated by a few thousand meters if we're not paying attention.

So, I've started actually calling which instrument headings will be issued from.

Like I said, its a small detail that has little effect on gameplay--I was just curious as to whether or not someone knew why it occurred...

It might be a texture problem / bug, where the texture is not fitted correctly to the instrument, either the texture is of the wrong length (size) or the wrapping starts at another point as the texturer thought.

Yea,  "metal"; as in a boke mofo who could not afford brass, and purchased rusty balls on e-bay.

But, I decided not to say anything about that.
