Dude, I'm a plankowner on that P.O.S., precommissioned it (decom'ed the Lipan too, ugh).  We had to take it when it was 90% complete in the yards because the yard workers went on strike. I personally labeled half that damned engine room myself. Sea trials were the most surreal experience of my life... besides REFTRA at Gitmo.

GAWD DID SOMEONE SAY GITMO??????????/

Jeeez, talk about living a nightmare......

Used to spend weeks at REFTRA, was a heck at times, but there were a lot of good times. Used to spend time off, down there, up the river on the far side of the harbor. Would rent "john-boats", cross the harbor, up the river and tie them into a raft....spend the rest of the day drifting back down. Many many beer cans later we would crank up and head back to the base.....Ever try to pilot a johnboat, loaded to the gunnels with beer, across open water? Makes walking on the bulkheads seem fun!

Next Question.......Wheres all the Shellbacks?

Squids!

And to think I spent 7 years treating this kind for gonorrhea- not, of course, suggesting that any occurred in this group! I may be in Charleston then with the wife & mother & may get cut some slack. I'll PM if it flies.
