I agree with Dan's idea of a fun game.... others may not, however I surely wont say most do or don't agree. Maybe this guy has been running a polling station and just missed posting the results.

I suggest everyone play the game they want to play.... and see where the chips fall. Or in my case where the 38 parts fall...

No matter what team I am on (80th usually goes to low number teams) I appreciate knowing that we have some guys in GVs doing their job, someguys in bombers doing their job, some guys in the fleet doing their job, fighters up furballing doing their job...... Their job?..... Having fun!

youve missed the point.

 lazs doesnt care what you do, as long as it doesnt mess him up. your in a different position, because what lazs does, other than posturing on the BBS doesnt effect you in the slightest...

You can't be in charge, you've been here too long.

After a couple weeks to get acclimated ( yes that's right, the magical TWO WEEKS ) you start at the top as Supreme Commander in Charge of All Allied Forces ( pronounced "scuff") with the priviledge of typing in caps all the time ( these are known as scuff marks). As you gain knowledge and experience you become less and less powerful, reduced to leading missions, then squads, then just winging with somebody, until finally you end up a selfish traitor switching sides and fraternizing with the enemy while your Country is defended on your behalf by the current Supreme Commander and his loyal minions.

3-It's just a GAME, not war, despite efforts to claim different.  Relax, have fun, no one is dying.

4-Quit thinking that you have to have an advantage in every fight, whether it be numbers, plane type etc.  This of course brings the 'no one is dying' rule into effect again.  It's funny how much better you can get taking on the mob at times, as it works your SA, and your 'flying' ability to the limit and beyond.  And since you get a new plane if it doesn't work, who cares right?  

5-Remember that 99% of the people in this game are good people.  Squad loyalty is fine, but getting to know the folks you fly with and against makes the game that much better.  Most are interested in WW2 aviation and flying.   How can getting to know em and sharing that interest be a bad thing?

6-Instead of complaining, figure out what you have to offer to the AH community to make it better.  This starts with how you present yourself in the game, but certainly can extend well beyond that.  Just thinking of the guys I fly with in my squad as examples.  Del has been teaching folks how to fly the 38, 1 at a time.  Raptor does maps for scenarios and skins.  Trieze does skins and website stuff.  Phan is the fountain of aircraft photos.  Silat is a trainer.  I try and help with the skinners and the history stuff.  None of it is specific to the 80th, but it all helps with making the game better.  At least I'd like to believe it does anyway.

7-Have a bit of faith that HTC and company know what they're doing.  To that end, try new things and again, do what you can in the arenas to make it a better place.  Us old timers set the tone for the new guys.  It has an impact good or bad.

8-Remember this isn't real life, this is a game, meant to be fun.  Anytime it gets too serious, it's time to take a break and get your perspective back.  There is NOTHING in this game worth getting worked up about.  No one is really dying and planes are free.


Stepping off soap box and off to work.  You are more then free to feel like I'm completely wrong on this.  I'm not really dying and I get a new plane everytime so it just doesn't matter

Lots of good stuff there Guppy!  I enjoy more than trying to shoot someone down, or lots of guys down (rarely happens).  It is a "game" and games have an objective.  That's what gets my interest and keeps it.

Great post guppy, thats the way it should be. Now to the negative nelly, (i wont even look his name up again) think of it this way lil hero, (combat) whatever fits you...if it weren't just a game, you would get shot one time, and depending on your luck be either dead for real, or most likely captured , for a lengthy stay of fishheads and rice. It's a frikin game, treat it that way, loosin up, have some fun, nobodys gonna get a call to go fly from aces high.

In other words - find some way to have fun flying solo in a an online multiplayer game, because that's exactly what you are doing when you start changing sides to even out the numbers. Your squaddies won't be there.  Who is the intended audience for this post? Nobody who flies by themself will have a problem finding fun, it's those of us that are used to working as a squad that got the rug pulled out from under us.

I think I've flown for every country across the 3 arenas in the last couple weeks and I've always had squaddies to fly w/.  I've also gotten to fly with some old buddies that I hadn't talked to in awhile and met some new folks in the process.

     Here's a thought, either find squaddies with a better attitude, or open
yourself to making friends with folks not in your squad.  I've been flying
online since about 1990 and have pals flying for all three countries.  I'm
also happy to meet new ones...works out great!

hey i fly freelance and it's great fun meet a few peeps who don't expect you there . Helppped to bag a P-51 while i was passing . a can't beat mucking about , even serious mucking about as part of an organised offence. Who cares if you crash and burn as long as i got atleat an assist i'm happy. I like to die covering a freinldy. Did that last week . out of ammo tailing a spit while a freindly was being hunted so i got in th eway of the spits fire . The freinldy did a split -s and bagged the spit. aok
