how many players like to furball but also enjoy the strat game from time to time or if there are no good fights will help in whatever capacity to advance what other team members are doing in the way of base capture?

also which do you like the best dogfights, armor battles or capture?

i think i would answer yes to this, but clarify your definitions please. when you say furball are you refering to huge numbers of planes or say 10 or less?

a furball usually starts with just a few guys.  the best ones escalate in numbers until someone kills the FHs for some unexplanable reason.  while I prefer 3v3 to 5v5 but I like the wild ones where you have guys from three countries involved as well ala FT fights in the bottom of the bowl.

what is your preferrence?

5v5 or less  FT will fun initially gets old because there comes that point where you are constantly getting picked there is a beta map i think they put back into rotation where A1 is 5k i  think and there are 2 enemy fields around it, and that gets pretty good at times but mostly i prefer the smaller furballs where getting the quick kill is not essential to your filght time. snap shots annoy me i prefer to get the better position.

I dont see what good it would do, just because theres probably about 4,000 people that play and only a few hundred or so that post on these boards.  But I'll answer anyway.

I like all three aspects of the game.   I've spent the majority of my 30 hours or so this tour in the EWA.   sometimes I'll just furball whenever theres an opportunity.   If i notice someone trying to milkrun a base I try to put up a defense and at least slow them down.   If theres a base where someone needs help defending I'll help out and if someone wants to capture a base and I'm not doing something else then I'll help out with that.   I'll fly a bomber if I feel the need but it depends on the map.  I'll GV but its usually defending a base and I'll man the guns on the CV just to keep people from sinking it although I'm not always sucessful.  Primarily I get most of my fun furballing.

JHook, to me a furball is any fight were 2 or more people take off and meet to fight and are only concerned about fighting.  They arent trying to straf the ack, they arent trying to bomb the FH or the VH, they actually leave the protective umbrella of ack at the CV or base and engage other planes and fight.   some furballs start with someone attempting a capture and sometimes furballs end because someone decided they wanted to capture the base.

and I get a little fustrated with people that whoop up on me trying to shoot me down but when I finally get a good reversal on em or they lose their advantage they run away. Whats up with that?  and I dont mean there extending either.  I mean they flat out run away.   I can tell when someone is trying to extend and get a better position and restart their attack.  When someone just flat out takes off and goes more than 5.0 out and I turn around and leave and then they turn back and try to sneak up on me?  their running

I find that, sometimes anyway, good fights ensue when a capture is attempted. I haven't really seen epic armor battles in the MA, but that kind of thing used to be fun in the Pizza map back in AH1. I don't really care what's going on, as long as there's some sort of action. I've even been known to drop troops, supplies, and carpetbomb the hell out of people and things.

I fly 38L in LW 38J in MW and 38G in EW. I try to play MW as much as possible as I think that is the best. I like dogfights the most and our squad always changes to the low number team. This ensures the best chance to find a fight. We had a great time last night upping into an attacking force and fighting them off, we were bish and rooks outnumbered us 3 and 4 to 1 all afternoon.

Was a lot of fun!!

Yeah, the battle we Knitwits had againts the Rookies at A41/A44 yesterday was a blast.  We were outnumbered about 4 to 1 but managed to hold off and beat back the massive Rookie attacks with just a few guys.   Never realized the Finns had a lot of guys in their squadron but damn, those fights were fun as Hell.  One of the more enjoyable times I've had in a long time.

Umm I likes a good fight.  I spend some time doing just that.  I'll go me against 2 or 3 but to squabble around on the deck knowing some fresh plane will show up and gets ya ain't for me.  So, "furball" as punted on these boards I don't think so.  Fly it till ya die it blah blah.  Not 4 me.

Agressive defense by porking the enemy is a must.  I use ords and rarely gun strat out.  Guns is for fighting ya way home.  Infact thats how I learnt to fight.  Fly in hvy and pork.  Cons all chacing ya.  When the jobs done turn on um and get nasty :D Eventually you pick up a thing or 2.

Speaking of porking.  Can't see much sense in porking same fields over an over because the enemy "Strat" is 100 %.  Cities and factories need doing. So if the mood takes me I may do an hour Lanc run.

The Hanger thing.  I don't and never have got the "hanger banging" thing.  What the  %^$# is that about ?  Now I'm a strat player and the  only time hangers should be taken down is when the "cap" can't cope.  In my mind bombers would be best used bombing TOWNS.  Towns flattend, goon in, fighters cap.... simple!  If it all goes tits up then the hangers.  All sides have this thing about avacadoting hangers FIRST.  I do not get this one bit.  The fighters are just fighters 99% of the time.  They'll be hardly any hvy fighters and fighter don't have shed loads of ammo to work the town over.

I suppose you can liken it to 3 different departments within the same firm except these departments ain't got a clue how the other works

Hmmmm.... Depends.

If I am flying a P38 then there is nothing better than a good 1v1 fight. Lot's of working for position and blasting away.

If I am flying a Jug then I prefer a big furball where I can be a dweeb and just blast through spraying 50's at anything that enters the sight.... However last night I had a great 1v1 in a jug vs. a pony. Came out on the loosing end but it was a great fight.

As for bombing I do enjoy a good bombing run from time to time. Years ago in AWIII we (the squad I was in |||AirWolves|||) used to run squad nights where we would pick a field and then up a few 17's with escort and have a great time. Good for the bombers as they had some protection, and great for the fighters as they had bait to draw in the enemy. I don't see much escort in AHII anymore. With the formations I guess you don't really need it.

Sorry got off track while reminiscing.... I guess I like all aspects of AH, just a different times.

I love to furball but have found myself participating in the "capture" lately in the MW arena ... for some reason it feels better and has more purpose than what I was experiencing in the old MA.

I don't fly bombers, but I will do a JABO run if needed ... once loose of the eggs, I can then get it on in the air.

I prefer the dogfighting aspect of capture ... either helping to clear an area for capture and/or keeping an area clear (intercept) for capture.

What Ack-Ack was describing ... is what I really like to do.

My fun comes from--->

60%  tactic side war , defend ,capture  bases, kill CVs,GVs, HQ raiders, goon hunting , porking,HOing,Vulching, and other kind of "toolshiding"
    39% furballing
      1% GVs
      0% score

45% bombing
- - - strat, hardly never bases, except maybe VH, SB or Towns. (Fave strat targets Cities, and troop factories). Oh and maybe some gooning

50% fighters
- - - 60% of this pure-fighter. Mainly cap, bomber hunting and base defence.
- - - 30% of this Jabo. killing troops, ord, Gv's, VH, SB or Towns.
- - - 10% of this furballing. (base defence roll more so)

5% GVing
- - - rarely GV, but if its defending base or capturing ill be there.
