Have one. Will match up well but you might want to try sticking with 1600x1200 res in AH. Going to 1920x1200 with your card is a lot of pixels to push and in certain situations might lag a bit in performance.  imo

thanks JimBear
I have not used a wide screen monitor before.
I have read at some resolutions, I'd get bands on the sides in AH. Do you get that? Would I get them at 1600 x 1200?

Yes you do get black bands but they do not detract from game play.  And you can always go full widescreen and adjust the game settings to see if it is acceptable to you. I tend to go back and forth, working on the sweet spot.

Good luck

one more question please...
any ghosting with the monitor when dogfighting in AH? I had a 19" lcd samsung I had to trade the wife for her crt as the lcd ghosted to bad in close combat.

do you know what firmware you have in yours? I heard the original A01 was crappy but fixed with A02 and A03 revisions.
tia again

One of the biggest factors in ghosting is response time.  The lower the number the better.

Most of the "older" first generation LCD's had a very high response time.. 30 or even 40ms..

the standard for most "cheap" LCD's these days are 12 or 16ms.

Mine is 8ms.. and worked perfectly well for AH... the only ghosting I came across was in turret view in a tank, at full zoom, and sweeping quickly one way or another.. and it was just enough ghosting to be mildly annoying, but in no way did it effect my game play.

From what I've seen they go as fast as 2ms these days.  It's possible your old monitor that you gave you wife had a very slow response time, hence all the ghosting.

Good luck!

NOTE:  It appears that model you are looking at has a 6ms response time... Should work great for you!  I'm jealous.. if only I had the means to get me one of those suckers!!!

hahah enjoy

thx tigger
I had the samsung 930b lcd and it was rated at 8ms but it had just enough ghosting in close turn fights to throw off my sa and aim. I have read others that stated it did not ghost in their games, maybe I had a defective one ..

I was only able to get this monitor as my company has a deal with Dell. It cost me less with a 5 year warranty than Sams is selling them for with a 3 year warranty. plus the company has a payroll deduction plan interest free to assist its employees in getting a home computer. Otherwise I couldnt get it.
