« on: October 28, 2006, 02:33:36 AM »
have this message at the top of the screen with a constant noise. went to the offline practice and that sound is gone, but when i'd pull all the way back on the stick i got a nasty static sound.

i'm just now getting into the computer games, i do graphic design but this is all new to me. any help would be great

btw just put in a radeon x 1600pro, maybe has something to do with it.

frame rate is ussually locked to your monitors refresh rate hz   and is the frames per second that is being viewed ,i myself cant stand 60hz and run at 85 hz .

VM is your current View mode (f1,f3,f4)
DM is what mode your in for going thru views  (pan ,padlock, snap)
vid mem is how much memory is available on your video card
used is how much is currently being used

sysmem is how much memory is in your pc
used is how much of that is currently being used by the game
tex is how many textures are being filled on your screen

now the noise your hearing when pulling your stick back ... i bet its the stall buzzer or buffet noise from the game .

try hiting the X key for auto pilot and see if it disapears ..

I think ctrl_i toggles that display, but I am at work and can't test it out right now to make sure.  If alt_i toggles icons on the planes then ctrl_i toggles the top of the screen info.

It makes great debug info when you are seeing frame rate issues or graphics glitches.

The static sound when pulling all way back on the stick in an airplane is when your plane is about to stall. It is meant to be there.

I cant see much on your pic... but the noise might have been a vehicle standing next to tower with his engine running. Switch around bases and see if its on every base.
