how is that any different than the "mellow yellow 500" held at "Lowe's motor speedway" driven buy guys who look like they rolled round in my sunday paper coupon section?

I used to go to the "Firecracker 400". Several years ago it became the "pepsi 400" .
at least Atlanta is still Atlanta and not "carpet barn speedway"

I started getting p/o'd when it seemed they would change paint schemes just to sell more diecast "collectables"

cookie cutter tracks-multi car teams .. its gotten old over the last few years

The selling isn't the outrageous part, it's the fact that there are buyers.  If the buyers can consistently show a positive return on their investment, that means that the viewers really are paying attention to this type of product placement/naming.

If _THAT'S_ the case, then it's not the owners of the races that should be admonished, it's all the idiots^H^H^H^H^H^Hviewers who are the real suckers^H^H^H^H^H^Hpeople that should be criticized.

When I worked for Taebo, we would drop a million bucks a year to sponsor an indy car with Delta Faucets.  I always thought is was a huge waste and didnt pay off except for the infield owners box seats at the Indy 500 three years in a row... wooohooo!

Pressing backspace in the DOS days would print ^H instead of erasing the character next to the command line's cursor.

In NASCAR it really does'nt bother me that drivers and cars are plastered with sponsors. Renaming the tracks does. Same goes for other sports. To me it will always be The Ballpark in Arlington, not Ameriquest Field.

I dunno, the names of ballpark's seem to reflect the local products.  Coors Field here in Colorado, the old Enron Field in Houston...

Damn, he has his own talking action figure (IT'S NOT A DOLL!), plus you can get your name on the cars for donations of $100.  Looks like RPM donated too early.

I'm not in it for the perks. But I have to admit it's a sweet deal.
