Guilty Pleasures
« on: October 27, 2006, 09:46:09 PM »
Radio station around here does a call in  request for "Guilty pleasures"

That is, Songs you like That you wouldnt otherwise admit to likeing

Thought this might be a fun tongue in cheek topic

So what is it? What songs are your guilty pleasures.
Whats the story behind them. if there is one
Post the song if you can find it as well

I'll open up with

Terry Jacks

Seasons in the Sun

Kinda  sad story and way to start this out but. Since I heard this song today.
If two friends can have a song they could call "their song" This was ours
One James "Bones" Moody

Jim was my best friend Since we were kids. literally
. We met. like the song said. when we were 9 or 10. The song came out a couple years later.
And we used to laugh and poit to that fact. and we both liked the song.

I remember specifically. we couldnt have been much more then 11 or 12 listening to and talking about that song. and death. More specifically. our deaths.
Pretty heavy subject for 11-12 year olds.
We promised each other that day that whoever died first the other would play that son in his honor.

As I had mentioned on this board a few times
A couple of years ago. Jimmy was killed when he was hit by a car while walking across a highway.

I honored that promise.
And to this day I cant hear that song without thinking of him. And getting a bit misty eyed
The words. almost to a word are entirely accurate to our lives.
In hearing that song I can always remember like it was yesterday certain moments in our youth growing up
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty
