BD-5 for sale

I can't remember who it was here who was all fired up about BD-5s, and the search term is too short so I can't find the post.  There's a BD-5 for $15k on Barnstormers right now, looks interesting:

Neat little planes, even if their primary claim to fame is the efficiency with which they convert pilots into cadavers.  :D

That would be me

Here's me and mine...back in 2000.  I've since sold it

Knowing what I know now.....don't.

It takes a lot of resources to make these things safe.  And even then, read the FAA accident reports.  These aircraft are absolutely unforgiving.  You sit 4 inches from the ground in a sheet metal shell.  One hard landing and your spine becomes the primary receiver of all those G's.  The guy I knew really well who build a J model (jet) crashed and died last summer at the big Canadien Air Show.  He entered a loop too low and augered in during a practice session his friends and family were watching.

Frankly, I'd have second thoughts about buying a control-challenged bird from a company called "Ballistic Aircraft"

I'm definately not interested in the plane myself, just thought I'd post it here for the user who said their dream was to one day own one.  I don't think it was you, LePaul, if you already owned one in the past.

I've wanted one since I was a kid - not really a "starter plane" though.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
