For anyone interested this  link contains Anderson's after action report from that fight.  You can read the first chapter of his book, which describes the fight in more detail here.

The Bf109 units that were in action in the area on that day all appear to have been equipped with basic G-6s, while Anderson's "Old Crow" was a P-51B-15 with a V-1650-7 engine.  He probably would have had equal or slightly better climb performance at that altitude along with a massive speed advantage.

I have actually slipped up on at least one occasion at work and said "roger" to someone on the phone from an insurance company. :)

Heh!  I sometimes find myself answering "roger that" when I'm mean to convey that I heard what a person said, understand it, and am on it (or sometimes "Roger that.  I'm on it.")
