here. The Bf109 units that were in action in the area on that day all appear to have been equipped with basic G-6s, while Anderson's "Old Crow" was a P-51B-15 with a V-1650-7 engine. He probably would have had equal or slightly better climb performance at that altitude along with a massive speed advantage.
