Some wheeling Pics from last weekend.
« on: October 31, 2006, 07:05:39 PM »

This is a map to the rough area, you just take Boards crossing road after the town of Dorrington. Took us about 2 and a half hours to get there from the bay area.

This is the first trail I ran with the current Jeep, so I figured it would be fun to run it again a year later.

This is the beginning, the whole trail is only 2.5 one way and dead ends at an awesome place to camp or eat lunch.

A hard section near the beginning, (the trail is not hard, rated a 2 or 2.5 on a scale of 5, though it was harder this year then last)

A few of the images may be out of order; the trail has two sections of granite rocks that look similar near the same area.

A small stream you have to cross.

A few shots from the area the trail ends.

The final shot is of the Xterra getting its tire changed, 200 yards from the end of the trail on the way out.

I few more pics of trees and stuff if you guys want to see them ;)

Nice pics GtoRA2. That section with the big rocks looks tough.

I know I've seen you Jeep before and it looks good. Do you have the factory lift on it? What kind of things have you added or changed?

I have as Jeep as well and I was out on a Jeep trail today and got suprized by a deep rut in the trail that I didn't see. My steering wheel is now out of alignment but everything else looks okay.

Jeeps are cool and  there are so many toys made for them. They are great 4x4's and a lot of fun.

Have you ever got into trouble or damaged anything on yours yet?

I have a 2 inch spacer lift( fits on top of the springs), I have added an engine skid plate, steeringbox Skid, better diff covers, a new back bumper, and some odds and ends like nets to keep the dog in.

I have a slightly bent tie rod, a new started and Alternator, and have replaces the soft door tops with glass ones since some ****** cut the stock ones to break into my unlocked jeep lol.

I plan  on doing a 2.5 inch spring lift, and install a better, flatter transfercase skid and 33s before next spring.

A short video can be found

I watched the video. It's good to see someone with a nice Jeep actually using it for what it was made for. It's scary though, lol.

Mine's an 03 and it's only the Wranger X, so I don't have lockers.

I have a Terraflex 4" long arm lift with a 1" body lift and run 33's. It's a manual, and with the 33's, I was not able to run 5th gear until I installed an AirRiad intake system last week.

I think the Rebecon has lower gears than the X?

Anyway, nice pics. Looks like a good time.

yeah it did, last year I pulled him through, this year he aired down to 15 PSI.

The airing down prolly resulted in the flat though.

I didnt airdown, since I was pretty sure the lockers would get me through everything :D

Yeah 4.11 gears from the factory, front and rear Dana44s, and 31 inch tires are all standard on the Rubicon, though the 07 will have better lockers, better 44s(high pinion front) and 32s from the factory.

Nice pics,  Xterras still seem like plastic coffins out on those trails though.  There are some good ones in the Rockies an hour or 2 from the Denver metro area from what I've heard.  Went climbing in a Grand Cherokee my dad's friend customized, crazy ride.

GTO,

I just ordered the 3.5" suspension lift from black diamond.  FINALLY after 5 years of owning a jeep I will get some lift out of it.  I should get about 4.5" out if it since the stock springs sag so much.  I'm putting 33"s on it in january.

The X does ok, he aired down a bit to much.

If he had about 2 or 3 inches of lift 32 or 33s and a locker in the back he would be able to do almost anything I could.

It kicked my bellybutton on the beach though, its supercharged and horsepower is more important in the sand.

Plus he can take two people and two dogs and all his camping gear and have room to spare. When I did that the dog hat about 18 inches between her and the top lol.

Sounds awsome. I will go with 33 as soon as these 31s wear out lol.

I am going with an Oldman Emu spring lift, 2.5 inches, then a 1 inch body lift, and tummy tuck skid plate. That will give me almost 2 inches of clearance under the jeep without a real lift, (the Tranny case skid on TJs is called the shovel for a good reason).

Along with the body lift willl be a motor mount lift to keep the drive train all at the same level. Will prolly have to go with a CV driveshaft in the back too.

The other option is a long arm setup, not sure if I could install one in a single weekend, or how the dealer would take that though lol. So far they havnt given me trouble with the warranty.

Yeah the Belly up totaly, the Rubi Transfer cases dont need SYE kits, the have a yoke built into the transfer case. I am leaning towards the belly up being the next mod.
