Moment Of Silence

Hey gents
Heres some news for ya
On thursday 10/26 a forest service fire engine and crew where burned over on the Esperanza fire near the San Bernardino NF in SOCAL.  The fire started around 1am ish started small and GREW.  USFS engine 57 responded to the fire and was tasked with evacutation and structure protection.  The fire fanned by winds over 30mph over took them and their engine killing 3 onscene and a fourth died in the hospital from severe burns and the 5th is still fighting for his life at arrowhead medical center.
But it gets worse
the fire is believed to set intentionally
These men and thousands of others willingly put themselves in harms way for public safety day in and day out and it goes unnoticed until somthin bad happens.
I am typing this for two reasons

1) For the Fallen brothers, the one still fighting and there families

2)For all those who put thereselves in harms way for public safety
cops, fire fighters, EMS workers, ect
<> STAY SAFE

If your interested there are funds set up to help the families
search fallen fire fighters association

If you would like more info on the fire itself google Esperanza fire

thanx for your time

This one hit pretty close to home. My co-worker's Son-in-law was working that fire. He (co-worker) called his daughter when he heard the news about the dead firefighters and she was in tears. I guess she couldn't reach her husband for many hours. Turns out son-in-law was OK, but was right next to the fallen crew. He was tasked to put out some embers near the burned truck and the embers turned out to be another firefighter. My co-worker took friday off to be with his family. His s-i-l was pretty messed up according to him. Sounded like a freakin war zone.

:(

Sad news  :(

I've flown fires.....us heli drivers never have it as bad, or as hot, as the crews on the ground. Those guys/gals are the real heroes when it gets chitty.

Thoughts with the families.

Rest in Peace. There is (there must be) a special place for those who place themselves in harms way for the sake of others.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
