You know, it seemed like I was always upping in a different plane each week, and sticking with the one I was getting kills in. One week, I'd be chopping everything up in a 190, next week I couldn't kill squat in it.

LA7 flies like a lazer gun when I fly it, but for some reason, it's one of the easier planes for me to kill.

I always had a blast upping an early war plane and kicking a newer planes butt with it. That takes skill and a bit of luck in some situations, but always fun.

I agree with not liking the "Horde Mentality" when it's 50 vs 8. But 50 vs 50, OH YEAH, that's a fight!

If you want a 1v1, or 5v5, check out the DA or the AvA. The MA setting in my opinion was around for a MASSIVE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER EXPERIENCE!

It seems like the few that want a clean dogfight, shouldn't be in a combined arms scenario like the MA's. It's not the place for it.

And for the record, if you're taking land for your "chess piece", then the best way to do it is to keep the enemy from taking off in the first place. And the best way to do that is to drop hangers, plain and simple.

Taking and defending bases is fun. If it's not supposed to be part of the game, let's just have 5 bases on each side that aren't untakable, and there will be a constant fight between the bases...

but that wouldn't stick to the spirit of things would it? High alt bombers hitting a target on the ground for a reason (to take a base or kill strats), ground pounders hitting GV's attacking a base, dogfights to keep enemy fighters off of bases and their own GV's...

There is a time and place for a 1v1, or a "clean" dogfight, the MA isn't it. The MA is a simulated WAR, and nothing is fair in war. There's always going to be the guy with more alt, more ammo, a faster plane, etc... etc... etc....

Hopefully things will return to my idea of sanity sometime in the near future so I can come back and enjoy the game I played for three years before things changed.

S!

LOL! You haven't been playing long have you?  There are many planes that out perform the N1K2, a well flown P-38 being one of them.

For the record, F4U-4 > La-7, but that's another thread.

Anyway, the problem is that Lynx brings up a good point and the same group of guys come in and lay into it. The "solutions" offered aren't going to work. What is the horded team supposed to do things if the guys in the horde won't switch sides and balance things out? They go to another arena, where THEY have the numbers advantage, and leave their friends sticking it out another hand down.

The other night I even tried to recruit guys from an arena where MY country had the horde to help out in the arena where we were down 40 to 1, and NO ONE CAME. Between that and the attitude around here is proof that the players AREN'T going to fix this themselves. No one can even DISCUSS this without attacking the people posting their differences of opinion. It's the furballers vs toolshedders all over again. No one is willing to budge on a solution that helps EVERYONE.

Things have all been suggested, and either ignored or flamed because "Well that's not how it is, HTC isn't going to change it, so STFU because *I* like it this way and my opinion means more than yours."

Reduce # of arenas: Maybe there IS too manychoices. Reduce to two arenas--early to mid, and mid to late, and increase caps to 350ish. Numbers will be better spread out between them (the LW arenas tonight were bumped to caps of ~300+ and were MUCH better balanced, at least the one I flew in, than they had been).

Make it 2 countries instead of 3.

Put a max cap on country size--either switch or go to a different arena.

Heck, why does it have to be early/mid/late? Why not divide them based on theater of operations? Three arenas: European Theater Western and Eastern Fronts, and Pacific Theater. ElGay dweebs get the Eastern Front, and guys who want to fly earlier birds without worrying about with the warp-speed cherry-picking HO-n-Go LAs can do so.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

BJ you are wrong to assume that it is only bish that have #'s...  I have been around for a bit and the #'s go up and down for each country... I have seen more of a fluctuation in these small arenas than I ever did in the old MA.

The point is each side has some point during the day when they have #'s.
From the ashes of the old we rise to fly again. Behold The Phoenix Wing!

True but like I've said on 200 many times, I do NOT see Rooks posting threads when Bish or Knights have the numerical advantage.   However, the Knights and Bish have NO PROBLEM whining in here when Rooks outnumber them.

These threads are sort of like the Bish/Knights whining about an ENY Limiter for an RJO Sunday night that hadn't been used in over a YEAR at that point.

For conversation sake...

Why is every post that is not condescending to Aces High or current policy called a whine...

Followed immediately by some dweeb who needs to make a personal attack?

True enough, but since last month or 2, LW seems ruled by Bish--mostly due to the utter LACK of Bish in EW and WW

Actually, if ya look at the LARGER of the 2 LW arenas in prime time EST, Bish all seem to gravitate to that one place-in fact, go to the largest ANY time it is capped, or nearly capped, and bish will wayy outnumber both the other sides--not because there ARE more bish, but simply that they tend to prefer LW, and predictably want to hang together
